Natural Pet Products And Organic Pet Foods: Essential To Your Pets’ Health

Monday, July 26th, 2010

I have heard it again and again, “I would love to feed my pet healthier, but not at that price!” or perhaps “My cat really loves the food, but I’m gonna be broke in no time flat!” or maybe “I true love my dogs, but my husband might go over the top if he found out they are eating healthier than us!”

Exactly what most pet owners don’t understand is that by feeding an all-natural & holistic foodstuff for their dog or cat, they will actually be saving money over time. How, you ask, at $1.15 per pound? First of all, we give a lot less food (20% to 40% much less) since the food is natural with no fillers and by-products. Take the time to evaluate the cost comparison chart between HealthyPetNet’s Life’s Abundance, Flint River Ranch and a number of other popular industrial pet foods by clicking here. Next, there are enormous cost savings to be made simply by not having all those veterinarian visits along with harmful medications to fix your pet’s allergies (the #1 reason why pets are spotted in the vet’s clinic) and immune disorders (which can bring about chronic and serious conditions that require thorough treatment. Allergy symptoms include, but aren’t restricted to, itchy skin and bodily eruptions, swollen ears, abnormal licking of the front feet, digestive problems (gurgling, gas and a tendency toward diarrhea), inflammation of the toes as well as an irritated hind end (rectum, sex organs) along with licking plus dragging of the rear end on the floors.

Allergic reactions include, but are not limited to, itchy skin and physical breakouts, inflamed ears, abnormal licking of the front feet, digestive problems (gurgling, gas and a tendency toward diarrhea), inflammation of the toes and an irritated rear end (anus, sex organs) with licking and dragging of the rear end on the floor.

Feeding organic and natural will greatly reduce the mental and physical speed of premature aging in our pets, associated with a life of bad nutrition. Several degenerative diseases, such as cancer, kidney illness, heart disease, arthritis, skin complications, bowel irregularity (such as Pancreatitis), and even diabetic issues have been found to either be hurried up or slowed down very much by what is eaten. Please keep in mind that by also providing a properly put-together home-made or raw food diet will give these same benefits, and more!

Actually, I’m one of the blessed ones who has got an open-minded veterinarian, who refers a lot of his clients to me, who he believes their symptoms are diet-related. I am very honored he is doing this.

Wondercide has committed themselves to acquiring the secret to the best quality pet grooming supplies available. Things You Should Know Before You Start Raising Rabbits

Tuesday, June 22nd, 2010

What you should know before you start raising rabbits. Quite a few things come to mind, but one of the most important distinctions to make is that domestic bunnies are very different to wild rabbits. Make sure you leave any wild rabbits well alone, especially babies or kits, as they will probably have their family close by, and you would not be doing them a favour by trying to ‘rescue’ them.

If you’re reading this, then chances are you have decided to get yourself a little furry friend, so what’s the best way of making your home, their home too. There’s quite a few ways and we will focus on the indoor homing methods, although it is possible to obtain outdoor rabbit varieties.

Arguably, the nicest way to house your bunny is to let them run free around your home. This will require you to bunny-proof your house, see the text below. You can designate a single totally bunny proofed room as their home, placing litter, food and water trays and dishes strategically around. If you go down this route, then build them a castle of cardboard for nap times.

If having a room set aside just isn’t practical in your house, then you’ll probably have to invest a rabbit hutch or rabbit cage. If this is the way you will be housing your bunny, make sure that the cage is the largest you can afford and fit into your intended spot. Rabbits need lots of room to lie down and roam around inside the cage, and there must also be room to have plenty of water, food and a litter tray. Also, it’s worth providing lots of toys inside the cage for your bunny to play with. Make sure as well that you don’t shut the little fluffy one away in a room where they will feel lonely!

So on to your home in general. Unquestionably it’s worth bunny proofing! Rabbits are naturally pretty destructive, so you need to prepare to protect things like TV and hi-fi centre wiring, lamp and computer power cords to limit the damage done to potentially both your rabbit and your equipment.

To prevent that worst case scenario – bunny electrocution, ensure all those wires are covered with hard plastic covers, try flexible tubing, or locate them all underneath carpets or behind skirting. Rabbits love to squeeze into tight spaces, so block them off, and amazingly some bunnies can leap to heights of 36 inches or so, so move easily damaged objects up to high shelves. Make sure your bunny has a lot of toys to chew on too.

Every home needs greenery and houseplants to liven up rooms and freshen the atmosphere, however many plants can be extremely poisonous to rabbits, especially plants like holly, tomato, tulips and poinsettias, but make sure you check which plants you have around the home and search on the web to see if they are dangerous to rabbits.

In terms of what you should actually be feeding your rabbit, a mixture of fresh clean hay, fresh pellets – go for high fiber and low protein varieties, and lots of fresh vegetables like romaine lettuce, carrot tops, broccoli leaves and water cress. You can definitely introduce the occasional piece of fruit as a treat, maybe strawberry pieces or apple chunks.

Models And Methods For House Training Your Dog

Tuesday, May 18th, 2010

Acquiring a pet is an exciting event. However, it is accompanied by an extra cost which comes from teaching the pet the basic rules and regulations

Basic obedience training is a good place to start training your dog in that you will establish a language and a bond between you and your pet.

You will get your dog to understand what you expect from him and he will behave to please you. You can choose from several different dog obedience training modes.

Leash training and Reward training are two of the training methods that are mostly used. The one you choose depends on the kind of relationship you seek to establish with your dog.

This article will give a detailed explanation of both of these methods of training.

One of the training modes, leash training, or collar training, involve a strict discipline model in case the dog fails to obey you.

Leash training is a very popular dog training method. It teaches the dog by way of leash. In the event of a failure to obey, the leash can be used to correct the dog.

This kind of training is useful for dogs used as military and security reasons. They can’t afford to disobey their master.

This kind of training is not suitable for teaching a puppy. It is too harsh of a method.

The other house training method that is growing in popularity since the last few years is reward training.

In using this method, you encourage the dog to listen to you by offering food and toys for the dog.

You can start with rewarding the dog’s favorite food for doing a few things.

You can eventually use words of appreciation like “good” and “thank you” in place of physical rewards of toys and foods.

A pat on a back would make it feel a great sense of accomplishment.

If you are compassionate as a dog trainer and lack the stomach for leash training, reward training is a good substitute. You would just need a lot of time and patience.

If you would rather your dogs be strong and infallible, you might fare better with leash training.

Remember at all times that all you want from your dog through training is that he obeys you and you will benefit very well from these techniques

Puppy Obedience Training – The Perfect Dog.

Tuesday, May 18th, 2010

One of the most exhilarating things that will ever happen to you is bring a puppy home. It’s like expanding your family.

Despite that, it will take some effort to make your little doggy listen to you.

Although many claim house training a puppy isn’t as difficult as house training a full-grown dog, consider the following before starting to teach your puppy.

Traditionally, one uses, among other things, a lease or collar along with some manipulation to teach the puppy fundamental orders.

These measures can, however, become somewhat mean sometimes and even hurt a delicate kind of puppy.

More rugged varieties of dog including German Shepherds or Bulldogs, this could be the way to go.

With a Poodle or a Chihuahua on the other hand, more lenient approaches like handing out rewards or treats to the little dog, if follows your orders, and revoking them, if he does not.

Locking him up in with the dog gates, should he persist in ignoring your orders, is also an option.

If the dog refuses to be taught the easy way, that is with awards, then being stricter and moving to the lease or collar approach might not be avoidable.

A very common approach to the collar method is having the dog sport an electronic collar around his or her neck, while brandishing a remote control in their own hand

Should he disobey your orders, press the button causing the collar to give the dog low-voltage shocks.

Since these shocks do not possess much power, no physical harm will be inflicted upon your puppy, however, he will not enjoy the shock therapy and start obeying you.

Nevertheless, the best way of making yourself understood is to invent a language both you and your dog understand.

Say words like yes, no, good boy bravo…etc to make your sentiments known to him.

Though it will create a lifelong bond between you and your puppy lasting your entire lifetimes, this might demand quite a bit of patience and a considerable amount of time at the beginning.

After you have been able to teach a hard-to-train puppy, you have the right to call yourself an expert in canine obedience training.

Cat Training- Cats are More Difficult than Dogs

Monday, May 17th, 2010

In training animals, as anyone who has ever tried to train their pets will tell you, it is far easier to train a dog than any cat. While many people think that cats are the smarter of the two, they’re also very stubborn and finicky in many cases, having almost a ‘holier than thou’ attitude. When you are going to start training your cat so that it will do more than just eat and fill up a litter box, you will have to work with them and be willing to spend more time with them to get the desired results. There are many different ways to train animals, but cats seem to best respond when you actually reward them for doing what you want them to.

If you want your cat to do a specific action, trick, or just to behave in a certain way, you should show them what you want them to do, and then reward them for doing it. Keep this up until they do it on their own, and continue to reward them until they produce the desired result regularly. This can be a tedious and time consuming process, but it’s not something that you should give up on. If you are truly committed to getting results, you can as long as you are willing to stick with the program.

There are many other alternative methods to cat training also, specifically when it comes to curbing their unwanted behaviors. One of the most popular and effective ways to keep cats from doing things that you don’t want them to do is with a water squirt gun. You should not go out and buy a heavy duty super soaker type of gun, but you can get a simple one dollar squirt gun and fill it with water (or vinegar and water for a more stubborn cat).

A common problem seen is having the cat jump onto the counter space, or perhaps you want to keep them out of the Christmas tree, you squirt them once when they are where they shouldn’t be. They should respond by immediately stopping what they are doing, and you can keep using this technique until they get the message.

Training your cat is not an easy task, and there are many more effective ways that you can train your cat to do what you want them to, or to avoid doing things that you do not want them doing. As long as you take the time to find what works for your cat, though, cat training can be less stressful than you might think. Just stick with the program and feel free to try different things until you find what works best for your cat training.

White Boxer Dog Myths Dispelled

Monday, May 17th, 2010

White boxer dogs carry with them, many myths. Apparently the fact that they are different seems to be a problem indicating that there is something wrong or a weakness involved in their heritage or birth. This is far from the truth, and when you learn the facts, you just may want one for yourself.

White boxer dogs are purposefully bred to be white. Just as other breeds are bred for certain characteristics, so are Boxers. Approximately 25% of all that are born are white. They are not a rarity and should not be considered as such.

They’re not albinos, either. Albino dogs will have no color pigmentation at all on their bodies, in contrast to white boxer dogs. White boxer dogs have some color in their coats, usually in patches, with what is often a brown circle around the eye, or on some other area of the body. Albinos’ eyes are normally pink, whereas white boxer dogs’ are not.

White boxer dogs are healthy, just as other types of boxer dogs are. They can get skin cancer quite easily, because they’re so lightly colored, but answer is a common occurrence in many dogs. Boxer dogs are susceptible in general to cancer, and white boxer dogs are also somewhat more prone to being deaf. This sometimes leads people to think — incorrectly — that white boxer dogs are difficult to train.

Another myth is that white boxer dogs may have differences in personality, disposition or behavior. However, all boxers have relatively similar personalities. They’re affectionate, and will often behave as though they are lapdogs. They are protective of their owners and families, and are very loving dogs as well. Boxer dogs in general may appear imposing if they’re particularly large and have not had any obedience training, such that they can simply behave as they want to. Dogs in general are pack animals and den animals. That means that they are very protective of their “den” or home, and of the people who live in it. If you do get a boxer dog, you’ll need to train your dog to protect you when necessary, and refrain when not necessary, as according to needs.

Without proper training a white boxer dog can be a menace to visitors, but so can a cocker spaniel. It depends on their home and the whether or not the people in it take the time to train them correctly.

Where you buy white boxer dogs matters, too. Only buy them through reputable breeders, not puppy mills or other substandard breeders. Puppy mills and other substandard places don’t care about anything but money, and they won’t breed for quality, nor will they treat dogs humanely. You’ll be much more satisfied if you purchase your dog from a reputable breeder. The breeder should have the parents of the dog you purchase on the premises, and the puppy or dog you purchase should also have been cleared by a vet so that it’s free of disorders. Because large dogs can tend toward bone disorders, getting a dog from a proper breeder can minimize the possibility of this type of difficulty.

Again, white boxers are not rare, and their only difference is their color. It’s the same with people, of course, in that we are all shaded differently or are of different colors. We are different from each other, with all distinct but none defective.

Bull Dog Training – How To Train Your Bull Dog

Monday, May 17th, 2010

The bulldog is a unique kind of dog that requires categorical types of training, medical care and exercise. Bulldog owners must therefore gain a knowledge of this breed so that they can take excellent care of their pets.

One of the most vital forms of training that dog owners should give their dogs is toilet training. This is because dog owners do not want their dogs doing their business on their rugs and floors. The following section provides some tenets on how you can train your bulldog to do his business in the correct way.

The Pen

One of the first things you will need to do is to provide your dog with a pen that has 2 separate areas. It is a brilliant idea to keep him in the pen as much as practicable and to play with him while he’s there so that he’s going to understand it is his pen. Then you should cover the entire floor area of the pen with newspaper. Half of the pen should serve as his “living quarters,” and this area should be covered with a blanket. The other half would serve as the “toilet” where he can do his business.

When he does his business on the “toilet” side, clear away the newspaper but leave some trace of the stained newspaper because the bulldog will go looking for that very same spot and do his business there again. After he gets the concept, you can infrequently let him out of the pen but close to the newspaper so that he can do his business there. In time, you can bring your bulldog on outside trips, and you can also apply the same principle if you want for him to do his business in the garden or the yard.

Dogs are animals of habit, and bulldogs aren’t different. These straightforward steps can help you toilet train your bulldog and relieve you of the stress of finding little “packages” on your living room rug.

Why Choose A Rabbit As A Exotic Pet?

Monday, May 17th, 2010

Everyone has his own choice as to the type of furry friend he’ll almost certainly bring home and look after. Ordinarily, people select dogs or cats as pets since these pets usually are sociable and a lot easier to take care of. Nonetheless, you will find folks that choose to look after exotic pets.

Normal pets are animals that folks consider as pets simply because they are highly domesticated and subdued. On the other hand, exotic pets are animals that are not commonly found near society, aren’t domesticated and a lot of them belong to the wild.

Any individual who’s going to be intending to have an exotic pet may want to take into consideration his commitment for looking after this sort of pet. If your motivation is just to own the exotic pet shown off then it is far better to think again. Owning an exotic pet is usually a heavy responsibility simply because they call for special care.

Parents who will be intending to give an exotic pet to their children ought to opt for an exotic pet that’s more subdued and may be easily handled by children. Safety must also be considered a primary consideration when giving exotic pets to children.

Have you thought to give your son or daughter a rabbit as an exotic pet? Rabbits are cuddlier and also safer in comparison to other exotic pets such as reptiles and so forth. Can you imagine your child holding a boa constrictor for a pet? Obviously that would be the day! Yet rabbits, well they look like stuffed toys they don’t even seem like exotic pets at all!

Rabbits are getting to be a common site these days because you will find those who breed rabbits for business purposes. A few breed rabbits for their meat although some breed rabbits for reselling. Giving a rabbit to a child as an exotic pet would surely be appreciated without the giver worrying about safety along with other issues.

Rabbits are pretty easy to care for except of course when you have to give them warmth when temperatures go down. While rabbits are simple exotic pets, they also need tender loving care therefore be sure to educate the child on the way to care for the rabbit. Also ask the pet shop about vaccines that may be given to the rabbit to make certain it is safe and healthy.

When purchasing rabbits, you should acquire one with a good pedigree because they have a higher resale value. In any case, rabbits with recognized and excellent pedigrees really are much better to breed and to look after as exotic pets.
